Columbus, Ohio ergonomic visits for employers

Good work should not wear out your most experienced people.

I help employers see the small physical mismatches that make good employees leave a job early: a counter that is two inches too high, a lift that starts at the wrong time of day, a dispatch chair that fights the person sitting in it. America’s Aging Workforce Ergonomics provides vendor-neutral assessments, accommodation plans, and supervisor training across central Ohio.

What Martha Brings On Site

Three Ways To Make The Work Fit The People Doing It

01

Individual Workstation Assessments

Desk, counter, lab, clinic, dispatch, billing, library, and records work are reviewed with the employee present. Martha measures the reach, sight line, task height, seating, keyboard and tool position, glare, foot support, and the parts of the day when discomfort usually appears.

Columbus metro individual assessment: $425 for one employee, 75 to 90 minutes on site, written recommendations within 3 business days.

02

Job Task And Aging Workforce Audits

For repetitive, standing, lifting, reaching, and tool-use roles, the visit looks beyond a single chair or mat. Martha maps the sequence of the job, watches pace changes, measures forces when useful, and builds a priority list that separates quick fixes from capital purchases.

Half-day visits are $1,250. Full-day aging workforce audits are $2,250 and include a priority risk matrix.

03

Supervisor Training And Accommodation Planning

Managers learn how to talk about discomfort without turning every conversation into a medical debate. Training covers work pace, rotation, tool choice, aging-worker accommodation, documentation language, and the difference between a practical adjustment and a promise no employer can keep.

In-person supervisor training: $875 for 90 minutes and up to 20 attendees.

Owner’s Field Note

Why The Time Of Day Matters

I ask employees what time of day the task starts to hurt because that answer is often more useful than the first thing I can see. If someone says the shoulder starts talking back after lunch, I know to watch the morning setup, the pace change after the first rush, and the small reach they may be too proud to mention because they have been doing the job well for twenty years. Older employees are often careful narrators of their own work, but they will not always call something a problem until you ask in a way that respects the skill they bring to the task. The timing tells us whether we are dealing with force, repetition, recovery, awkward reach, visual strain, or simply a workstation that never quite fit a person who has been making it work anyway.
